RCMP receive reports of rocks thrown at vehicles from bridge in Red Deer

Reports of individuals throwing rocks at vehicles driving under a bridge in Red Deer have been received by RCMP several times in 2024.

Mounties note that throwing objects at moving vehicle presents serious safety risks to those operating a motor vehicle. Police add, criminal charges against those throwing the rocks would start at criminal mischief and would become much more serious if a victim was injured.

Corporal Troy Savinkoff, Public Information Officer with Alberta RCMP Media Group, says in May, July, and August at least one report was received by police of rocks being thrown at vehicles from the Taylor Pedestrian Bridge in Red Deer. He also points out that there are likely more cases which have not been reported.

If you have any information regarding these offenses contact the Red Deer RCMP Detachment at 403-406-2200 or CRIMESTOPPERS.

Police encourage anyone who sees suspects throwing rocks at vehicles from the Taylor Pedestrian Bridge in Red Deer to call RCMP right away.
