Agri-Trade assumes full ownership of AgSmart

AgSmart is becoming an asset of Agri-Trade.

The annual two-day educational expo is focused on data and technology across the agriculture industry.

While AgSmart will continue to take place on the Olds College campus, Todd Ormann – Vice President, Development at Olds College – says Agri-Trade will take over the overall management of the show to grow the event and make it better.

He notes Olds College will continue to provide content for AgSmart from their research side. Ormann says “what I’ve also seen is a really good opportunity here, especially with some of the plans that Agri-Trade is thinking, about showcasing the college in a much more broader format. So I am hoping also it does allow us to showcase our facility a bit better and some of our academic programming.”

Ormann adds, the show has done exceptionally well over the last five years and it is now at that stage to grow further. To that end, they need more resources and he believes Agri-Trade is the right partner to take it to that next place.

According to a media release, this strategic move follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Olds College and Agri-Trade which is effective as of September of this year. Agri-Trade assumes full ownership of AgSmart – including its brand, digital assets, and historical content.

The next edition of the AgSmart educational expo is set for July 29th and 30th of 2025 on the Olds College campus.
