DEN Days 2024 are coming up next month at Camp Evergreen in Sundre.
Program Coordinator Heather Hicks with the DEN Sundre Youth Centre notes it is going to be their first ever youth retreat and their guest speaker will be four time Guinness Book World Record holder Scott Hammell. She says “he will be using his past experiences in the daredevil/stunt world, as well as magic and storytelling to capture the attention of the participants. He will be sharing important life lessons on topics such as facing our fears, building resiliency beyond them, and he has even agreed to teach us some of his own magic tricks along the way.”
She adds, DEN Days will run from November 1st through the 3rd.
Youth in grades 7 to 12 can register for the weekend retreat online at TheDenSYC.org. Hicks says “all year round, The DEN SYC focuses our efforts on providing a safe space for our youth to gather and grow. We hope this weekend expands on that. We want the participants to come away feeling that we see the fears they face, the struggles of the teen years and that we are here for them. We want to give them the tools and the support needed to face new obstacles head on.”
The deadline to sign up is October 25th, but Hicks encourages anyone interested in participating to register before October 10th so that their DEN Days hoodie arrives in time for the retreat.
The cost is $50 dollars which includes all of the retreat activities, two nights stay at Camp Evergreen in Sundre, meals, and a hoodie.
