Haiden Parks Takes Home Top Scorer And Most Valuable Player Awards At Mountain View Colts Awards Banquet

The Mountain View Colts Annual Awards Banquet was held this past Saturday at the Didsbury Memorial Complex Multi Purpose room.

Several players were recognized for their contributions to the local junior B organization, with awards presented by the Colts coaching staff led by Head Coach Dan Visser.

Ashton Rach took home the honors for Most Improved Player of the Year.

Cohen Richardson notched 25 goals and 19 assists for 44 points this season, earning him the right to pick up the Rookie of the Year award.

Tanner Austin won the Heart and Hustle Award, while Corbin Rae and Mitch McDermid were Coach’s Choice award winners.

Blake Stoddard led all Colts defensemen in scoring with 20 points, earning the Frank Murphy Defenseman of the Year Award.

Aiden Saunders was selected as the Albert Hood Fan Choice player of the year, while Paton Rothenbusch was recognized with the Micheal Brander Leadership Award.

The highest honours of the night went to the Colts leader in both goals and points this season.

Haiden Parks tallied 28 goals and 30 helpers this season, averaging over 1.5 points per game, earning him both Top Scorer and Most Valuable Player awards on Saturday.

Parks credits his teammates for helping him notch those totals.

The veteran Colt confirmed he will be returning to Mountain View this fall, adding he hopes the team can take a step forward together.

Paton Rothennusch, who has been the team’s captain for the past 2 seasons, and Steven Bell, were also honored during the awards ceremony as the team’s only 2 graduating players.

Rothenbusch was born to play for Mountain View, following in the footsteps of his cousin (Cole Sutherland, 2016 HJHL Champion) and brother (Laine Rothenbusch, Colts Assistant Coach) in wearing the ‘C’ for the Colts. Rothenbusch racked up 31 goals and 126 points in 5 years with the team. His 148 games played for the Colts ranks him 7th all time.

Bell meanwhile, electrified the Didsbury Memorial Complex for parts of 3 seasons, scoring 52 goals and 102 points in 91 games played.

The Colts will now stand idle for the next couple months, follow along on the team’s social media channels for more details about the team’s fundraising initiatives or summer plans.
