Mountain View County’s Division 4 by-election is coming up on Wednesday, October 16th.
Following the resignation of Division 4 councillor Gord Krebs this summer, Mountain View County councillors supported holding a by-election to fill the vacant seat at their table during the regular council meeting on August 27th.
Sean LaBrie and Tiffany Nixon are the two candidates running in the Division 4 by-election.
Advanced polls were held on October 9th and 10th.
Returning Officer Christofer Atchison points out that voting stations will be open from 10am until 8pm for Wednesday’s by-election at the Melvin Hall and at the Bergen Hall. He says “the advanced polls will begin to be counted at the County office beginning at 7:30pm on October 16th with no announcement of results until after the polling stations close at 8pm. The other two locations will begin their count as soon as they can once polling stations close at 8pm with all results compiled at the County office. There will be a live stream opportunity available if anybody is interested in following along with the results as they become available on Mountain View County’s YouTube site.”
Atchison passes along this note for eligible voters. He says “everybody that is attending a polling station will need government issued photo identification that has their name and current address on it. Mailing address is acceptable as long as it is within proximity of a voting location.”
Once everything is tabulated, Mountain View County will release the unofficial Division 4 by-election results by the end of the day on October 16th. Atchison adds, those results will remain unofficial until Sunday (October 20th) evening when they will become official and the winning candidate will become a councillor for Mountain View County.
Division 4 includes Elkton/Rugby, Westcott; parts of Fallentimber, Bergen, Harmattan and Westerdale.
