Meanwhile, Town council approved a revised East Didsury Reservoir Funding Model at last week’s meeting.
Mayor Rhonda Hunter notes funding for the reservoir will be $2.841 million in long-term debt, $115,000 from water off-site levies, plus $185,000 from water reserves. She says “the Town also received an AMWWP grant of $2.54 million for the project. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2025.”
AMWWP stands for the Alberta Municipal Water/Wastewater Partnership. According to the province it was launched in 1991, and provides cost-shared funding to eligible municipalities to help build municipal facilities for water supply and treatment, and wastewater treatment and disposal.
Mayor Hunter adds, the East Didsbury Reservoir project will constructed at the west end of the Didsbury Memorial Complex parking lot.
