As heard on 96.5 CKFM, the Olds Grizzlys went toe to toe with the top team this season in the Alberta Junior Hockey League on Saturday night.
The Black & Gold held leads of 1 to nothing and 2-1, but in the end the Grande Prairie Storm would score twice in the third period to escape from the SportsComplex with a 3-2 victory on November 2nd.
Grande Prairie improves to an AJHL best 13-1-1-1, while Olds drops to 7-8-0-0.
Alternate Captain Junshi Hideshima (2005) from Edmonton opened the scoring in the game for the Grizzlys in the second period.
Forward Antonio Bevacqua (2006) from Langley, B.C. made it 2-1 for the home team late in the second period.
Grizzlys goaltender Connor Johnson (2006) from Calgary returned from injury was back in the net for the first time in over a month. He made 27 saves on 30 shots.
The Storm converted a power play into the tying goal 2:43 into the third period before notching an even strength tally at 17:40 which stood up as the game winning goal.
G.P also won in Olds on Friday, November 1st. The Storm took the opener of the two game weekend set 5-2. Grande Prairie winds up sweeping the four game season series with the Grizzlys (4-0).
Olds will host the Whitecourt Wolverines (12-3-0-1) on Tuesday, November 5th at 7pm.
