Despite some rain and even light snow in parts of the Rocky Mountain House Forrest Area, a fire advisory does still remain in effect for that portion of the Forrest Protection Area.
The latest advisory was issued on April 9th, under which new permits will be considered on a case-by-case basis and only for essential burning, while existing permits are valid but extension requests may not be granted. Permit holders must follow the safe burning conditions outlined on the fire permit.
New fire permits will not be issued for non-essential heavy fuel burning such as machine-piled brush piles and windrows.
All burning without a valid fire permit other than a campfire, is prohibited.
The wildfire risk level remains low.
Meanwhile, a fire restriction is now in effect for most of Central Alberta.
The ignition of all new outdoor fires within the boundaries of Red Deer County are prohibited as of this morning, and no new fire permits will be issued.
