Assault investigation leads to seizure of guns, drugs by Innisfail RCMP

Innisfail RCMP have recovered guns and drugs after investigating an assault in Red Deer County.

Mounties were called to the scene of an assault at a rural property west of Dickson on Saturday, November 9th and while there they developed the grounds to believe that the suspect was in possession of drugs and illegal weapons.

Police obtained a search warrant for the property. The search garnered suspected drugs including cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, and GHB. Drug trafficking paraphernalia, a .22 caliber handgun, a sawed off shotgun (prohibited firearm), three long barrel rifles, three shotguns, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition were also seized.

A 39-year-old resident of Red Deer County, Michael Stephanson, faces charges including assault, possession for the purpose of trafficking, and unauthorized possession of firearms.

He has been released with a court date scheduled for November 28th in Red Deer.
