The Town of Olds Family and Community Support Services is presenting its annual volunteer appreciation event on Friday, April 19th at the Olds College Alumni Centre.
Gary Gaudette, Community Facilitator with the Town, says prior to the deadline they had over 270 volunteers sign up for the free event. He adds, it will include a meal followed by the handing out of the volunteer of the year awards in three categories.
The three award winners for the Town of Olds are Mary Devolin for Senior Citizen Volunteer of the Year, Betty Baril for Citizen Volunteer of the Year, and Mukulu Shamvu for Youth Citizen Volunteer of the Year.
The theme for the 2024 Volunteer Appreciation Event is ‘volunteers make the magic happen’ and it will include entertainment by illusionist Ryan Michael.
National Volunteer week began on April 14th and it continues until this Saturday, April 20th.
