Westview Co-op will be moving into the Town of Olds Administration BuildingĀ at some time next year.
The Town of Olds announced the sale of the current administrative office building to Westview Co-op earlier this month.Ā Mike Isaac, General Manager Westview Co-op, says “I think we are just excited to get into a building and call it home. We’ve had to move a couple of times now, so looking forward to it. It’s almost exactly in the center of all of our locations. It has been a good fit for us and this will help us to be able to remain within the Olds area, so definitely supports the locations that we have today.”
Isaac explains what communities Westview Co-op services and what it offers. He says “we service areas from Sundre all the way up to Consort. So other locations: Eagle Hill, Olds, Carstairs, Didsbury, Drumheller, Linden, the Horseshoe Canyon area, and then up to Hanna and then all the way over to Consort and then some of the other communities within this trading area but we don’t have a physical presence within them. So the other types of businesses we are supporting are the food, gas bar, liquor, and then the home center, agriculture and energy business.”
Right now the Westview Co-op’s head office is in Olds on the fourth floor of the connectFirst Credit Union building. They have been looking for an administration office for about two years now, according to Isaac. He says “just as we’ve grown substantially with new locations and new positions and just throughout the communities we were operating in, the building we were in was a little bit too small for what we were needing to help support each of these business lines and this opportunity came up through the town. We started to take a look at it, to discuss what are the opportunities for us to be able to look purchasing that building to move our administration into it.”
Isaac estimates that they will probably be moving about 20-25 people into their new head office to start but they will take a look at that and adjust as needed as they go forward. He says “I think it is excellent actually, it’s a great location for us. Has definitely a good presence. Everyone will get a chance to see the Co-op building as they come into town. The building suits exactly what we are looking for and our team is excited to be able to have a chance to have a location and not lease an existing building that we are in today.”
In a media release, it was noted that Town’s administrative staff will be relocated to the Town Operations Centre on 70th Avenue in north west Olds which already houses staff from the Operations as well as Parks and Recreation departments.
