The second edition of Dragons’ Den held by the Rotary Cub of Olds went awesome.
That is according to President Steve Turner. He says they had a wonderful evening last Thursday with about 30-40 people at the Air Cadet Hall where the Rotary Club gave away a bit of money to eight different groups.
Turner highlights the fact that a total of $12,000 dollars was handed out. He says “well we’ve had two really good runs at it so far. We’ll take it back to our club and think about how we might do it again in the future. It certainly was a great time. The people who were there enjoyed themselves and the club gets an awful out of getting a chance to hear all the good work that these folks can do with the money that we can provide them.”
Turner says all the groups were amazing an received $1,500 dollars each, while a bonus $500 dollars was awarded to Clint’s Kitchen based on their presentation to the Dragons’ Den. Clint’s Kitchen is a community soup kitchen that runs on Wednesday evening’s at the Lutheran Church and Turner notes the money will help them purchase a new fridge and some storage equipment.
Other groups receiving funds from the Rotary Club through the Dragons Den event included the Community Learning Campus for its outdoor ed equipment, the Bethany Care Centre in Didsbury for a lift for patients at their facility, the Olds Spartans High School Football Team for guardian caps which are a piece of equipment that go over their helmets for concussion prevention, the Pregnancy Care Centre, Legacy Land Trust, and the Hope 4 Mountain View Kids Society, and the Mount View Special Riding Association for new riding helmets for their clients and staff.
