The Innisfail RCMP detachment is gearing up for its 28th annual Charity Checkstop on December 7th, from 10 am to 3 pm.
The event will take place on 50th Street between 48th and 49th Avenue, where RCMP officers and volunteers will be collecting donations for local charities.
Last year’s check stop raised $14,065.70, which was donated to the Innisfail Food Bank, Innisfail Christmas Bureau, and the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre.
This year, the public is encouraged to donate new clothing, food, toys, and cash to support those same organizations.
Santa and Safety Bear will also make an appearance to help spread holiday cheer. Drivers can donate as they pass through or continue without stopping.
The RCMP is looking forward to community participation to help make the season brighter for those in need.
