Mountain View Power has announced the recipients of its Fall 2024 Community Grant Program, with $50,000 allocated to support local organizations that enhance the well-being of the community.
Since its inception, the MVP Community Grant Program made a positive impact in Olds and surrounding areas by funding projects that serve a wide range of community needs.
The Fall 2024 recipients were selected based on their alignment with MVP’s mission to support initiatives that benefit residents in the area.
The grant funds will be used for a variety of purposes, from facility upgrades to wellness programs, benefiting organizations focused on food security, end-of-life care, senior fitness, community memorials, and more.
The recipients include the Mountain View Foodbank, who will receive $16,600 to support renovations at their new location in the old firehall.
Mountain View Hospice Society will receive $6,600 to enhance bereavement spaces, including the purchase of a hide-a-bed and recliner for a new family room at Seasons Encore.
Mountain View Seniors Housing Foundation has been allocated $6,000 in funding, the Foundation will use it to enhance fitness opportunities for its senior residents by purchasing a NuStep T5 Cross Trainer.
The Olds Lions Club will receive $15,000 to pave pathways within the Lions Memorial Forest and columbaria area.
Th Lending Shelf will receive $3,300 to expand its Dress For Success program. In addition, the grant will help fund a sewing station for upcycling and repairing clothing, further supporting their efforts to empower individuals in the community.
And the Mount View Special Riding Association will use a $2,500 grant to replace equipment, including a wireless speaker system, driving shafts, and expired safety helmets for their therapeutic riding programs.
The Fall 2024 funding brings the total amount invested back into the community to $247,000 since June 2023.
Community groups can apply for the Spring 2025 MVP Community Grants beginning in the new year.
