December 3rd is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD).
According to the United Nations, the day is about promoting the rights and well-being at every level of society and development, and to raise awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in all aspects of political, social, economic, and cultural life.
Cindy Tippe, President of Olds and District Special Family Voices, says they will be marking the occasion with a special event today at the Olds Legion from 1 until 3pm. She says everybody is welcome and they will have musical entertainment with Dean Ray. There will also be complimentary coffee, tea, and cookies.
She notes that Olds and District Special Family Voices has been active in the community for about two years now and they have eight board members. Tippe says “we just would like to provide programming and activities for our special needs population”.
