The Sundre Municipal Library is having a birthday bash this week.
Library Manager Joy Willihnganz states that they will celebrate the facility’s 75th anniversary on Wednesday from 4 until 7pm. She says “we’re going with a space theme. Kind of imagining our past and where we’re going to be in 75 years. So we’ve got a special presenter doing a space talk. We’ve got some marshmallow constellation crafts for the kids. We also have a trivia challenge, and an interactive art exhibit. We are also pleased to share that Dairy Queen here in Sundre is offering a 100 free kids meals for the first 100 kids through the door. So that is fantastic. We’ve got a local bakery crafting some special refreshments for us, some snacks. It’s just going to be a great time to just celebrate where we have come from and what we have to look forward to.”

Meanwhile, money raised during an annual fundraiser for the Sundre Municipal Library will help update children’s furniture at the facility.
Library Manager Joy Willihnganz points out that their silent auction fundraiser this fall was super successful. She says “it brought in just over $5,800 to the Friends of the Library Society. So on behalf of them, I just want to say thank you to all the individuals and businesses that donated this year and to all those who came out and put bids on things. It was a phenomenal fundraiser for the group and we’re just so thrilled about the support for that every year. It’s just phenomenal.”
Willihnganz is not sure if that is a record amount but it is very substantial for them and right now it will be used on children’s furniture which is a key priority for the Library.
