Boosted by warm weather, Innisfail RCMP Charity Checkstop exceeds 2023 totals

The generosity of the community is shining through again this year as the results have been tabulated from the annual Innisfail RCMP Charity Checkstop.
Staff Sergeant Ian Ihme (EYE-mee) say it was excellent day on Saturday as they raised $16, 505 – which is about $2,000 more than they raised in 2023.
He says “We don’t necessarily set a goal. Our highest record that we set was in 2021 which was just over $17,000. So we kind of always aim for that. Some years are better than others but we were definitely pleased. Especially, you know, this year it seems like money is a lot tighter for most people than it has been in years past. We were definitely blown away with how generous people were with giving to the cause this year.”
Proceeds from last Saturday’s (December 7th) Innisfail RCMP Charity Checkstop will support the Innisfail Christmas Bureau, the Innisfail  Food Bank, and the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre. Ihme says “honestly, the big highlight was the weather. The last few years I’ve been involved in this it has been around minus 20 or minus 30. The weather was gorgeous. The weather was lovely and it brought people out. It was just good to see people out.”
He thanks the community members for donating along with the volunteers, and other agencies that came out to help them including the Innisfail Fire Department, Corrections Services Canada, Ambulance, Food Bank, Child Advocacy Centre, and the policing committee.
