Shelter In Place Advisory Leads To Charges Pending Against Rocky Mountain House Resident

RCMP issued a shelter in place advisory to the public following an incident this week at the Sportsman Trailer Park in Rocky Mountain House.

It happened at about 8:20pm on Monday, April 22nd and reportedly shots were being fired at vehicles and residents at the trailer park. When officers arrived, a suspect was located. Police say the suspect fired a flare gun at the officers before retreating into a home.

Mounties contained the area and advised local residents to shelter in place. The Police Dog Service along with the Emergency Response Team (ERT) were deployed.

Police say officers and ERT negotiators made contact and eventually the suspect surrendered and was taken into custody.

Charges are pending against a Rocky Mountain House resident and RCMP note that a release with more information may be completed once the charges are sworn in.

According to police, a search of the property yielded pellet and airsoft guns, plus a flare gun which RCMP believe were used in the offences.
