The Mountain View Colts have won five consecutive HJHL games.
The Colts went to Ponoka on Friday, December 13th and triumphed 3-2 over the Stampeders.
19-year-old defenceman Kai Biggin from Didsbury broke a 2-all tie in the third period by netting what stood up to be the game winning goal. It was his first goal of the season. Biggin had 7 assists in 22 games prior to Friday’s contest.
19-year-old fellow blueliner Zachary Wheatley from Surrey, B.C. chipped in with a pair of assists for Mountain View in the win over Ponoka.
The Colts outshot the Stamps 42 to 19. 20-year-old goalie Nicholas Smith from Calgary made 17 saves for the Colts.
Mountain View will try to push the winning streak up to six games on Tuesday, December 17th in Airdrie.
The Colts are tied with Airdrie for third place in the Heritage Junior Hockey League’s Northern Division. Both teams have records of 12-10-1 so far this season.
Mountain View is now 3-0 in the month of December.
After Tuesday’s action in Airdrie, the Colts will visit the Agra Risk Wheatland Kings in Strathmore on December 20th and the Rocky Rams in Rocky Mountain House on December 21st to round out the 2024 portion of their season.
