Heart2U Didsbury has been connecting with the community during the festive season for 40 years now.
Volunteer Linda Regner says they just facilitate it. According to Regner, it is the community that reaches out, and steps up every year. She says “we have an angel program and it’s always just almost a miracle that the right toys come in for the right kids. So we are able to do that to provide a little bit of happy spirit at this time of year.”
Despite a difficult financial year for many Canadians, she notes that their community continues to make a difference. Regner says “our community is like family. They just step up. I’ve done this so long now I just get on the phone and those people are there with whatever we need. We actually didn’t hardly skip a beat – and yes that was always the underlying consideration and concern with the economy as it is this year but it’s amazing whether it be food that they bring or financial opportunities, if they have that. It’s always been there. It’s just amazing.”
Regner says they currently have a 50/50 raffle fundraiser underway with a link to it on their Heart2U Facebook page.
She says they will be doing the gift wrapping for their hampers on Friday, December 20th at 7pm at the Zion Church. She says you can join them for a really fun night of festive cheer.
