Homicide in Red Deer results in charges laid against 18-year-old man

An 18-year-old man faces second-degree-murder charges following a homicide in Red Deer.

Mounties say a 43-year-old victim succumbed to the injuries sustained from an incident at the corner of 49th Avenue and 53rd Street just before 10:30pm on Saturday (December 28th). According to RCMP, the injuries were consistent with a bladed weapon. The victim has been identified as Red Deer resident Anthony Spiller.

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has laid the charges against River Roan. Roan was arrested by attending officers a short distance away from the scene. He is slated to appear in court in Red Deer on January 2nd.
