Multiple records broken during the past year at Olds College

2024 was record breaking for Olds College in terms of student enrollment numbers.
Debbie Thompson, Interim President at Olds College of Agriculture and Technology, says for the 2023-2024 academic year more than 2,500 students came to study on their Olds campus, while hundreds more studied online, or at their Edmonton campus.
Thompson also points out that AgSmart which focuses on their top ranked research brought a record number agricultural industry professionals and primary producers to the Town of Olds as they celebrated the fifth anniversary of the event. She says “this year our research division won several awards and acknowledgements for their work and they even put us into the top ranked research colleges in the country. This also included winning an ASTech award that recognizes outstanding achievements in science and technology innovation across Alberta. We were so excited to have our brand new Animal Health Education Centre completed this year. It was a major construction project but we finally made through and it is truly a marvel now with state of the art equipment for our students and our animal health programs.”
Thompson is proud to say that during the last academic year the student athletes from the Olds College Broncos donated more than 5,000 hours of volunteer time in and around the Town of Olds.
Thompson also had fun participating in the 2024 Olds Fashioned Christmas parade and being able to ride on their team’s float with friends, colleagues and see so many people out there enjoying the evening is a memory she will always carry with her.
