Four individuals have been charged by the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit in relation to a 2020 homicide in Innisfail.
According to RCMP, officers have undertaken a plethora of investigative steps during the four-year investigation into the homicide of 38 year old Blackfalds resident Ryan James Gudwer.
Following with consultation with Alberta Crown Prosecutors, RCMP received support to charge four individuals with second-degree murder.
A 44 year old Red Deer man – Cory William Hales – was arrested in Red Deer on April 16th and has a court date set for May 3rd in Red Deer.
A 27 year old man – Thomas Jeffrey Houle – was arrested in Calgary on April 18th and is slated to appear in court in Red Deer on May 7th.
A 25 year old woman from Abbotsford, B.C. – Amber Loretta Knickle – was arrested in Maple Ridge on April 19th. She has been transported back to Alberta and is awaiting her next court date.
A 45 year old man from Moncton, New Brunswick – Mathieu Bilodeau – was arrested in Moncton on April 20th and after being transported back to Alberta he is also awaiting his next court date.
Corporal John Brown of the Alberta Major Crimes Unit says since this crime the suspects relocated to different locations which presented unique challenges to their investigators. He adds, with close coordination from their policing partners they were able to effectively locate and arrest each suspect.
