Kevin Watson has been hired as the Manager of Business Operations for the Olds Grizzlys.
The local Alberta Junior Hockey League club states in a press release that Watson has over 30 years in the media industry and brings a wealth of business knowledge, as well as relationships that he has gained during that time to the role. It will include looking after all sales and sponsorship, plus the team’s day to day business operations.
In the press release, Friends of the Grizzlys President Josh Erdman says “Kevin has been involved with the Grizzlys officially and unofficially for over 30 years! He was the ‘radio’ guy in the early 90s, the nominator for the two inductions into The Hall of Fame and supported the team since the 90s by helping with events and volunteering. We are very excited to have Kevin on a full time basis to help propel this organization back into the former glory that our fans and central Alberta deserves!”
Watson states in the press release “I moved to Red Deer to work in radio in the Spring of 1990 and the following hockey season it was part of my job to cover the Grizzlys every home game and then travel with the team on the road as well in the playoffs. That of course, all started a great run with the team that lasted for 5 years, and I made lifelong friends with many of the players. So, to get the opportunity to join the team after all these years, things have come full circle. I’m excited to get out in the community and meet the sponsors and supporters and grow the business side of the team.”
