Mountain View Colts get a win over the Rams in Cremona

The Mountain View Colts have kicked a 2 game slide, by defeating the Rocky Rams by a score of 5-2 as part of Saturday night’s Heritage Junior Hockey League action.

Nicholas Smith made 35 saves while Tristan Visser potted 2 goals and Rhett Miller picked up a goal and assist at the Cremona Ag Society Arena, leading the Colts to a big win in the Northern Division standings.

Cohen Richardson also added a short handed tally, the Colts sophomore had an incredible effort on a 5-3 penalty kill to score his 13th of the year.

The Colts special teams would prove to be crucial. Mountain View killed off 10/11 Rocky powerplays while executing perfectly on their own man advantages to finish 2/2 on the PP.

The 2 points keep the Colts right on the heels of the Red Deer Vipers, who jumped the Colts in the standings following 2 wins head to head against Mountain View this week.

One of those games was Friday night, the Vipers bested the Colts by a score of 4-2 in Mountain View’s annual Ride For Dad Charity Game. The Colts organization raised over $15,000 for the Rural Alberta Ride For Dad during the effort.

The Colts will continue a busy weekend tomorrow, as the blue and red hit the road to take on the Okotoks Bisons for a Sunday night matchup.

Colts forward Tristan Visser has found a home and a scoring role since joining the group in December.

The next broadcast of Mountain View Colts hockey on 96.5 The Ranch will come on February 7th when the Colts travel to Three Hills to battle the Thrashers.
