A homicide on the O’Chiese First Nation has resulted in a suspect being arrested by the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit.
The initial report of a deceased male there was received by Rocky Mountain House RCMP just after 12pm on April 30th of last year. A 21-year-old man, Jayden Carter, was found with a gunshot wound.
Last Friday (February 28th), a 23-year-old man from the O’Chiese First Nation was picked up by police at the Red Deer Remand Centre where he was in custody on unrelated matters.
Elijah Traves Strawberry is charged with manslaughter, failure to comply with a weapon prohibition order, and unauthorized possession of a weapon.

His next court date is scheduled for March 19th in Rocky Mountain House.
