Drug activity in Innisfail disrupts residential neighbourhood, results in property closure

A drug house in Innisfail has been shut down in Innisfail.

Under a community safety order, people are barred from the property located at 4127 49A Avenue until the closure period ends on June 9th (2025).

The Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN) unit of the Alberta Sheriffs obtained a court order against the owner resulting in the property being closed for 90 days as of noon on March 11th.

Staff Sergeant Ian Ihme – Detachment Commander of the Innisfail RCMP – says last year alone, there were three search warrants executed at the residence as police looked for both stolen property and drugs.

According to the provincial government, between February of 2022 to July of 2024 members from the Innisfail RCMP attended the property 53 times for various calls for service and last year between mid-July and mid-November complainants contacted the primary investigator more than 60 times about “suspected illegal activity occurring at the property.”

Sheriffs have now closed down drug or problem properties in Innisfail, Medicine Hat, Beaumont, plus two in Lethbridge since September of 2024.
