About three dozen members of the local business community gathered on Thursday, March 14th for the Olds & District Chamber of Commerce’s annual general meeting.
The AGM at the Olds Legion included Doug Rieberger presenting the Olds Chamber President’s message. He noted that the Chamber is in a good financial position and it will be increasing collaborations to bring benefits to members. Rieberger says “we’re looking at a pier business program that we are just going to be presenting here to the board next week to discuss and that’s one of the projects that is in the works right now. We’re doing a little more on our digital side to update that and to expand that with our digital presence. So those are two projects that are in the works right now.”
He adds, the Olds Chamber hopes to see plenty of nominations submitted this year for its annual business awards gala. Rieberger says “starting mid-April we’re going to have the nominations for our business awards. Anybody can nominate a business or an employee. Take a look at it. If you see anybody or any business that you want to nominate for it, by all means put it in.” Go online to OldsAlberta.com for more details or to submit nominations starting next month.
The new board includes Jeff Nielsen from Aurora Golf Simulator Lounge, Mike Tomey from Canadian Tire, Mary-Jane Harper from Royal LePage Wild Rose Real Estate, Mathew MacDonald from the Olds Golf Club, Rochelle Wilson from Western Financial Group, Bob Lambert from Olds College, and Sheldon Button from Vista Radio. The first meeting for the Olds Chamber’s new board members is coming up on March 19th.
