The sound of music will be in the air at the TransCanada theatre for the next couple of weeks.
Festival Coordinator Wendy Durieux for the Olds & District Kiwanis Music Festival says this is the 42nd annual edition. She says “it started way back when, when some music teachers all got together and went to the Kiwanis Club and said we want to do this, would you support us? Of course the Kiwanis Club did, and they have been supporting us ever since. Although, I have to say we have some other wonderful sponsors also.”

They’re taking lessons, they’re learning music, they’re learning to get up and speak, they’re learning to be in front of an audience, they’re learning how to memorize, they’re learning all sorts of different things that are not all just related to music.”
The Kiwanis Music Festival in Olds stretches from Monday, March 17th through Thursday, March 27th. A pair of special concerts will also be part of this year’s Kiwanis Music Festival with the Grand Concert on April 1st and the Benefit Concert on April 3rd.
