The U18 AA Olds Grizzlys were unable to bring back a provincial banner from Spruce Grove.
Olds went 2-2 during the round robin portion of the Alberta Elite Hockey League’s U18 AA provincial championship tournament.
The U18 AA Grizzlys posted wins over the CBHA Rangers and the PAC GS Construction Saints, but suffered losses to the Strathcona Warriors and the KC Colts.
Olds would then drop the bronze medal game to the Colts by the score of 6-2 on Sunday, March 30th. The Grizzlys finish in fourth place out of the five teams at provincials.
Nate Smith from Innisfail led Olds in points at provincials with 5 – all 5 of them were assists. Jace Gillespie from Red Deer County and Cole Irwin from Carstairs were second on the team in points during the tourney with 4. They both had 3 goals and 1 assist.
The Strathcona Warriors won the AEHL’s U18 AA title by defeating the PAC GS Construction Saints 4-3 in overtime yesterday in the final at the Grant Fuhr Arena.
