Mounties are investigating after human remains were reportedly located in Red Deer’s Gaetz Lakes Sanctuary.
Police arrived and recovered the remains which have been taken to the Chief Medical Examiner’s office in Calgary.
In a Facebook post the Kerry Wood Nature Centre stated their “staff appreciates the public’s interest in the evolving situation in the Gaetz Lakes Sanctuary, and the ongoing care that Red Deerians demonstrate for the Sanctuary.” They are asking people to “please stay out of the Sanctuary while the authorities do their work”
Red Deer RCMP note that searches of the area are continuing. It is an environmentally sensitive location and the public is asked to please avoid the area and stay on the trails.
