Back To Back Edwin Parr Awards For Chinook’s Edge Teachers

For the second year in a row, a teacher from Chinook’s Edge School Division has won the Edwin Parr Award.
The Alberta School Boards Association hands out the Edwin Parr Award annually to exceptional first year teachers.
Emily Wilson, a Grade 3 teacher at Carstairs Elementary School, was selected out a group of seven nominees from Central Alberta school divisions.
CESD Superintendent Kurt Sacher says their new teacher that they put forward as a nominee for the award has once again been recognized as the winner in their zone. He says “Having said that, for a number of years prior to that we were not as successful. So we are thrilled for them, we are thrilled for Emily. What is particularly cool about Emily’s story is her Mother teaches for us in Olds Koinonia Christian School. Just a tremendous teacher and her Father is a retired teacher for us as well. So it is a whole family of teachers. Chinook’s Edge is just incredibly proud to see this young teacher honoured. She just represents the other thirty or so new teachers that we have right across the division.”
According to Sacher, Amy Severtson from Bowden Grandview School was the Chinook’s Edge School Division teacher who won Edwin Parr Award last year.
According to a press release from CESD, the Alberta School Boards Association’s Zone 4 Trustees announced Emily Wilson as the recipient of this year’s Edwin Parr Award at a special banquet they hosted on Monday, May 27th and she will be honoured with other provincial recipients in Edmonton later this year.
