A playful opportunity for men, women, and families to raise awareness in their community is coming up this month in the Town of Olds.
Dale Rosehill, Fundraiser Committee Director with the Mountain View Emergency Shelter Society, says it is a chance for everyone to Walk A Mile in heels, if you can, to take a stand against domestic violence. She says “There is an old saying: you can’t understand another person’s experience until you walk a mile in their shoes. It is not easy walking in these shoes but it’s definitely going to be an engaging event that gets the community talking about domestic violence.”
She says to join them at Cam Clark Ford on Saturday, June 15th as part of Summer Oldstice. They will start the morning off at 10am with registration booths for Walk A Mile In Her Shoes located outside the doors of the dealership.
They will start walking down main street at around 11 o’clock and then circle back for a BBQ.
Rosehill notes there is a $25 dollar registration fee and you can look for pledges from family and friends – but that is not mandatory.
She says to check out their Facebook page it’s under Kirsten’s Fundraising and then find their event Walk A Mile. They are also on the raceroster.com site under Walk A Mile Mountain View County.
