West Central Alberta’s Current Water Conditions & Fly Fishing Report

The Upper Red Deer flows are back into the seasonal average and things are starting to clean up. Fishing has been decent, and we are beginning to see dry fly takes pick up! Streamers have been hot and we anticipate better conditions as the week goes on. The upper tribs are in excellent condition and been fishing great all week. Lots of top side eats and the bug life has been booming.

The Tailwaters of the Red Deer below Dickson Dam are also flowing in the mid to low seasonal average and water conditions have been good. The lower tributaries are also in great condition and fishing well. Dunns, Caddis, Mayflies and Stones are still all present.

On the local Stillwater’s we continue to see good Sedge hatches and Damsels have been very active. As summer conditions are really starting to set in water temps have been a big factor in feeding depths over the last week.

In the West Country conditions are starting to get pretty good especially on many of the smaller creeks. Bug life has been very active and stream flows on average have been great. The Ram is still fairly cloudy but visibility on the edges is improving daily.

Check out the Alberta River App or give us a call at the shop for more accurate updates as the week progresses.
