The Municipal District of Bighorn has declared a local state of emergency due to an active wildfire within the MD.
The wildfire is currently listed as out of control and is 25km west of Water Valley.
It is still approximately 85 hectares in size.
Alberta Wildfire is actively engaged in fire suppression activity and you can check the Alberta Wildfire Dashboard at Alberta.ca/Wildfire Status for updates on fire location and size.
As of 9PM last night, the wildfire remains out of control but has not experienced any significant growth since earlier in the day.
Mountain View County continues to offer assistance, having established a reception centre at the Water Valley Community Hall.
The Hall will be open between 9am and 8pm to assist any who are effected by the fire.
