Attendance was up at AgSmart this year.
The fifth anniversary edition of AgSmart – a two-day educational expo focused on data and technology across the agriculture sector – was held on Tuesday and Wednesday on the south portion of the Olds College campus.
Stacy Felkar, Event Co-Manager, is very excited to report that they had a 15 per cent increase in attendance this year with just over 3,600 people attending over the two-days.
She adds, there was a lot of action happening at AgSmart for 2024 with over 50 educational sections, over 125 exhibitors, and numerous demos happening in the field. She says “some of those demos were new tech that people hadn’t seen before, so it was an opportunity to come and check it out. We also had a variety of special events held in conjunction with us. The Alberta Crop Diagnostics Day was on July 31st, that brought in a good draw of folks and producers. We worked with the outstanding Young Farmers of Alberta and they had their group come in. We also had a large group come with the World Simmental Congress.”
Felkar says AgSmart also tied in a pitch event with DiscoveryLab, so there was so many things happening and a lot of folks that came into the different events and AgSmart. She notes it was a lot of action that really brought a lot of people to the site.
There were some of exciting announcements from Olds College of Agriculture and Technology over the two-days as well. She says “the Partner of the Year announcement, which was Rocky Mountain Equipment. There was another announcement talking about FCC’s partnership with the college and all the exciting things they are doing with them.”
Felkar says they are already collecting the feedback and data from AgSmart 2024 and they will use it to make next year’s edition of the event even bigger and better.
