The second Olds Gun & Antique Show of 2024 is just around the corner.
Each year there is one in April and one and August.
Show Manager Linda Toews points out that this is their 10th year of running these shows. Toews says “it started out as a much smaller show of course, I think we had 100 tables the first year. It has grown now to about 250 tables for our last two shows, the last one and this one. So it has certainly grown exponentially. We still have room to squeeze a few more in, you know we are getting pretty close to maximum now. This is the biggest facility in the town and we are very pleased to be able to hold our show in the Cow Palace.”
Toews points out that they will be supporting a number of local groups and organizations with donations back into the community again this year including to Special Olympics Olds & District, Wildrose Go Getters Women’s Institute, Olds High School Students, plus Olds & District Special Family Voices. She says “they were organizations that were doing a fair amount in the community and, you know, some organizations don’t come in for the large sums of money from government or from other sources. So we felt these particular groups needed some extra support and we’re pleased to help them out, that is for sure. We’ve done other groups over the years and they’ve all been groups that didn’t get as much support from the community but did put a lot into it and so we felt they needed that support.”
Admission to the Olds Gun & Antique Show is $10 dollars at the door. The hours at the Cow Palace are Saturday, August 10th from 9am until 5pm and on Sunday, August 11th from 10 until 3. Check out their Facebook page for more details.
