First Rider Events Start August 13

The start of the new school calendar is rapidly approaching.
As a result, Prairie Bus Lines is working with four school divisions – Chinook’s Edge, Red Deer Public, Red Deer Catholic, and Wild Rose – to help young students learn about school bus safety.
Corinne Varga, Director of Transportation for CESD, points out that the First Rider Event is free to attend and it is based in four Central Alberta communities. She says “the First Rider Program teaches not only students but their parents the safety while they are riding a school bus. It includes watching a Winnie the Pooh video. We do a bus evacuation, and we teach them how to load and unload properly in different settings. The best part is then they get to go for a ride with their parents.”
The first one is in the Notre Dame High School parking lot in Red Deer from 3 until 7pm on Tuesday, August 13th.
The next one is on Wednesday, August 14th in the Ecole Deer Meadow School parking lot in Olds from 3 until 7pm.

She says no pre-registration is required, parents and their kids can just show up at one of the locations.

For more information, she says to visit the website CESD73.ca or call the office at 403-227-7072.
