Mount View Special Riding Association Horse Testing Night On August 26 At Caluori Pavilion

The Mount View Special Riding Association has a horse testing event planned for Monday, August 26th at the Olds Regional Exhibition’s Caluori Pavilion.

President Diane Luxen says they provide a therapeutic riding program to children and adults with disabilities.

She points out that anyone who has an ideal equine – they have used donkeys, mules, and horses – that might be suitable for their riding program is welcome to come and be tested to see if they fit in with the program requirements. Luxen says “we’re looking for, I guess, a steady temperment. Well trained, as few vices as possible kind of thing as they will be working with a leader and perhaps up to two side walkers along with a rider. So a horse that is fairly flexible. Sometimes we have a lot of retired horses that are looking for a new job and they are kind of retired and coming back and they enjoy the purpose but there is not a lot of fast moving, you might say. There is a lot of walking. The fastest we do is a little bit of trotting. It’s a good program for those who are looking for something, maybe to keep their horses going that are just sitting out in the pasture.”

Contact Diane to arrange a time for horse testing after 7pm on Monday, August 26th by calling 403-559-7276. If that does not work for you other dates and times may be arranged.

For more information visit the website mountviewriding.com. They will also have a volunteer training night coming up on September 9th ahead of their session classes which begin the week of September 16th.
