Contractor selected for Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre redevelopment project

A construction contract has been awarded for the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre redevelopment project.
According to a media release from the provincial government, it has been a priority infrastructure project since 2019 and Clark Builders has received the construction manager contract to build the new patient tower and expand and renovate the existing hospital building in Red Deer.
Peter Guthrie, Alberta’s Minister of Infrastructure, calls this construction contract award a significant milestone in moving the Red Deer Hospital project forward. He adds, to this point, all the work – that is planning, design, and procurement – to propel the project forward has been behind the scenes. Guthrie says “now everyone will see the physical work taking place as contractors set up offices, equipment, fencing, and signage on site. I’m excited to see the progress, and I’m excited for the people of Red Deer.”
The provincial government points out that the construction on the new patient tower will begin by early 2025 and the redevelopment project will not only expand and moderize the space, it will provide significant upgrades to services throughout the hospital, such as adding 200 inpatient beds, increasing the size of the emergency room and adding six new operating rooms.
The redevelopment of the Red Deer Regional Hospital will also add a new Medical Device Reprocessing department, a new centralized power plant, and more.
