Alberta Open Farm Days featuring the Trochu Arboretum on August 17

Kneehill County and area will be celebrated this weekend at the Trochu Arboretum and Gardens.

As part of Alberta Open Farm Days, Jon Sedore – President of the Trochu Arboretum – invites everyone to join them on Saturday, August 17th from 10am until 5pm. He says “I’m very excited because I was once from Calgary. I moved to Trochu, a small town, so that I could learn to be closer to my food. It was a process I went through, I think back in 2018-2019 just to understand where our food was coming from and how to grow it. So I’m excited for other people that are in urban areas just to get more connected with where their food comes from.”

Sedore says on Saturday the Arboretum will serve as a landing spot for people to get acquainted to the area, but then they can go explore some of the other farms in Kneehill County. He notes that DNA Gardens is an orchard near them that will be participating with family activities, u-picks, really amazing food, and music as well.

Find out more details on the Alberta Open Farm Days website.

Sedore says there is no need to RSVP for Saturday’s event at the Trochu Arboretum and it is open to the public.
