The 2024 edition of SPOG’s Neighbours Day event was held at the Sundre Arena on Friday, August 23rd.
The Sundre Petroleum Operators Group and the community came together for the annual Trade Fair & Expo.
Vendors and organizations filled up the arena with their booths.
Sundre Search & Rescue was there and Richard Smith says they are involved in everything from disaster response to aid their municipalities, to looking for lost, missing, and overdue people in wilderness situations.
They passed along various information and supplies to visitors to their booth on Neighbours Day. Smith says “a lot of the things we have are survival information, survival handouts so people can stay warm and survive in the outdoors and also information on disaster response. What to do should there be an emergency situation and or critical incident such as a tornado, floods, wildland/urban interface fires.”
Smith says they have about 24 members with Sundre Search & Rescue and another approximately 16 members with Mountain View Search & Rescue.

This year’s theme for SPOG’s Neighbours Day was ‘Fire & Drought’ and it focused on emergency response.
