Sylvan Lake RCMP responded to a capsized boat last Friday (August 23rd).
A woman was located under it on Sylvan Lake when an RCMP boat along with a boat from Sylvan Lake Fire was deployed to assist.
Mounties say she died despite lifesaving efforts. The woman has been identified as a 50-year-old non-Canadian resident. She was taken to the office of the chief medical examiner and the investigation is continuing, according to police.
RCMP note that a total of nine individuals were assisted from the water and all of them – including the deceased – were wearing life jackets at the time of the incident.
Alberta RCMP extend their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
