Tailgate party leads into 2024-2025 AJHL home opener for the Grizzlys on September 13

The Alberta Junior Hockey League’s 2024-2025 season is about to start.
Opening night for the Olds Grizzlys is this Friday (September 13th) when they play host to the Drumheller Dragons at 7pm.
Kevin Watson, Manager of Business Operations for the Black & Gold, says they will have a tailgate party before the home opener from 4pm until 6:30 tomorrow. It will include free hot dogs and pop, plus entertainment from the Memphis Mafia Band.
According to Watson, there is plenty of fun planned as part of their Game Night’s this season including $2 programs which come with a chance to be in the ‘Shootout for $1,000’.
Watson notes that children ages 12 and under get into the home opener for free.
Grizzlys Head Coach Brad Tobin is excited for the opportunity that his team has to play the first game of the regular season on home ice. He says “just enjoy the moment. You only get one of these a year and that, where everybody’s sitting at zero-zero records, right? Just enjoy it. There’s obviously going to be a big crowd. It’s definitely exciting. The story is not written yet, it’s the start of it. So we just want to get everybody, you know, dialed in for game one against Drumheller.”
This will be the 44th season of Olds Grizzlys hockey.
