Sundre SPRUCE stands for Seniors Protected and Respected Under Community Engagement.
Their annual general meeting is coming up this Tuesday, September 17th from 1:30 until 3:30pm at the Mountain View Senior Housing Drop In – North Doors.
There will be refreshments, highlights of the year, exciting plans for the future, a chance for volunteerism, and elections to the board if needed.
Board Chair Jane Adkins with Sundre SPRUCE notes right now they do older elder mistreatment where people come and let them know if there may be mistreatment going on. She says “we also do healthy aging incentives and so we have been working with the community on informing them of some of the initiatives that are out there through Healthy Aging Alberta and with the initiative for inter-generational, we are trying to get more of a communication going on between them, trying to break ageism.”
She discusses what the Sundre SPRUCE organization currently looks like. Adkins says “right now there is five board members. Since SPOG was here we actually have about eight more volunteers than we had before, which was great. Otherwise we pick up volunteers here and there depending on the activity that we are doing.”
Adkins just wants to invite as many people as possible to tomorrow’s AGM that are interested in healthy aging in Sundre and area, as well as information that they may want about other initiatives that are important to seniors.
