Spartans post another shutout victory at Normie Kwong Park

Receiver Ethan Pedersen hauled in a pair of scoring strikes as the Ecole Olds High School Spartans trampled the High River Mustangs 50 to nothing on Thursday, September 19th at Normie Kwong Park.

The 15-year-old Pedersen and quarterback Aidan Knoppen connected on touchdown passes of 38-yards and 32-yards to help the Spartans improve their record this season to 3 and 1. Pedersen says “I think we played very well as a team. We prepared the whole week. So I think we executed great and as for the game, I felt I did great.” Both Pedersen and Knoppen are in Grade 10 at OHS.

Carson Cristensen caught touchdown passes of 12 yards and 45 yards from Knoppen.

Knoppen threw for 5 TDs and ran for another.

Nate Reist had a 15-yard reception for a touchdown, and Radek Heppner ran 28-yards for a score as well.

Next high school football action for Olds will be in Canmore against the Wolverines on Saturday, September 28th.

The Spartans don’t play again at home until Thursday, October 10th when the Drumheller Titans come to NKP.

The only other game for Olds so far this season at NKP saw the Spartans blank Calgary’s North Trail Nighthawks 39-0.
