The Olds & District Chamber of Commerce will announce the nominees for this year’s Small Business Awards at a special event this week.
Business, Beer & Blue Jeans is slated for Wednesday (September 25th) at the Olds College Werklund Agriculture and Technology Centre.
Murray Elliott, Chair of the Small Business Awards committee, says they have eight categories for the awards. According to Elliott, extending the nomination deadline from August 15th to September 6th was very successful. He says “regrettably, we seem to have to do that every year. The early August deadline, I think a lot of people are away because we do get stragglers but we have done remarkably well and I guess that will be announced at the event.”
He encourages community members to go online to OldsAlberta.com to get a free ticket to Wednesday’s event. Elliott says “it’s no charge. We have great appetizers and if you do want a cocktail, there will be a cash bar. You do have to pay for that. It’s a nice evening to get out and mingle with fellow business people. We held it there last year as well, a beautiful venue. I’m sure it will be a great night. Kind of the kick off for small business.”
Tickets to the annual Small Business Awards Gala are also available now on the OldsAlberta.com website.
The Gala is set to take place on Thursday, October 24th at the Olds Royal Canadian Legion.
