The community and Mountain View Seniors’ Housing recently came together to celebrate two decades of Aspen Ridge Lodge.
Stacey Stilling, Chief Administrative Officer of MVSH, says Aspen Ridge Lodge is a seniors supportive living facility in the Town of Didsbury. She notes it was built 20 years ago and it was a pilot project within the Calgary Zone of Alberta Health Services to do an integrated care model. Stilling says “people didn’t know if it was actually going to work because it was a pilot project but it has worked phenomenally well. So our seniors are fortunate because of the integrated model that Aspen Ridge offers, often times residents will come in and maybe they don’t need a bunch of help at the time that they enter the building but as their needs change, if they need more help there is potential they can get it there and not have to move. The model itself is very successful. It’s been very successful for the community and, obviously, for the residents and families that have called it home over 20 years.”
Stilling points out that they had cake, punch, special guests, and even an Elvis impersonator was there to provide entertainment for their seniors on Monday, September 16th during the 20th anniversary festivities for Aspen Ridge Lodge. She says “thrilled to be there. Thrilled to be part of that but I think the piece that really kind of gets me the most is to be able to see the residents and families, and the staff that are just so passionate about what they do and how they do it, and making sure that our seniors can stay in community. When you’ve got that level of passion and commitment from the team that works at Aspen and makes everything happen behind the scenes, it’s just a really good feeling to know that you are able to do that and help people in community.”
