Mountain View Colts Fall To Sylvan Lake, Will Host Ride For Dad Charity Game On Saturday

The Mountain View Colts kicked off a busy 3 game in 4 night stretch on Friday night, in the final game of their season series with the North Division leading Sylvan Lake Wranglers.

The Wranglers would come into Friday night’s action having won 16 straight games, while not suffering a loss in regulation time since October 15th.

The game was a second in a home in home, with 6 days in between games.

Last Saturday night in Sylvan Lake the Colts would see a 3 goal first period lead evaporate, with the Wranglers scoring 9 goals unanswered to take their 3rd win of the year again Mountain View.

The Colts would hope for better on Friday night, and we’re poised to do so after a solid start to the hockey game.

However, late in the frame Justin Gyori (16) took advantage of some extra ice on the powerplay to put the Colts up 1-0 at the first intermission.

Former Mountain View Colt Austin Corsiatto (20) would double the Wranglers lead midway through the second, with another power play tally.

The Colts found themselves down 2-0 heading into the third, where they would see multiple powerplays go by with few chances garnered.

Sylvan Lake meanwhile score the back breaker at the 3:10 mark of the 3rd, when Bret Gerrits (10) would seal the Colts fate.

Reed Sparrow (17) would add an empty netter to extend the Wranglers lead to 4-0, before the Colts would break up Kaden Toussaint’s shut out bid with just 3.3 seconds remaining.

Kai Biggin (8) would break the goose egg, but it was too little, too late for the Colts.

Toussaint would stop 37/38 shots faced to pick up his 15th regulation win of the year, while Brock Lott turned aside 35/28 in the loss.

Mountain View would finish the night 0/5 on the powerplay, while Sylvan Lake scored on 2 of their 8 chances on the man advantage.

The Colts won’t have much time to lick their wounds, Mountain View returns to action on Saturday night for a special night at the DMC.
