Business, Beer & Blue Jeans brought the local business community together on Wednesday, September 25th.
The annual event where the Olds & District Chamber of Commerce reveals the nominees for this year’s Small Business Awards was held at Olds College’s Werklund Agriculture & Technology Centre. It was sponsored by Western Financial.
The nominees for the Small Business of the Year are Dunrite Printing, Olds Central Highlands Golf Course, Sim’s Furniture, Mountainview Flooring, and Olds Uptowne Market.
The nominees for the People’s Choice Award are Dunrite Printing, Aurora Golf, Olds Community Pharmacy, and No Frills.
The nominees for Youth Employee of the Year are Hunter McDonald, Wyatt McDonald, and Grace Williamson.
The nominees for Best New Business of the Year are Aurora Golf and Feather Dental Hygiene Studio.
Two awards only had one nominee submitted for them including Mike Tomey from Canadian Tire for the President’s Award, and Emprise Canada for the Innovation Award.
According to the Olds Chamber, the Exceptional Customer Service Award received several nominations every month and the recipients truly appreciate the recognition.
Chamber President Doug Rieberger was thrilled to see the list of nominees for this year’s awards. He says “we’ve go some real pillar businesses, some new businesses like Aurora golf that’s just started up recently, dream team but we’ve also got some businesses that have been around in the community for a lot of years – Western Financial, Canadian Tire. So it’s pretty exciting.”
The annual Small Business Awards Gala is coming up on October 24th at the Olds Royal Canadian Legion and tickets are available on the website OldsAlberta.com.
